Today I am thrilled to be one of the blogger’s sharing my review on the final day of this blog tour for Enemy At The Window by A.J. Waines. This was released on the 28th of June published by Bloodhound Books.
About the Book:
Someone knows what you did… and they’re watching you…
Daniel is living the dream with a devoted wife, perfect job and adorable toddler. Until, out of the blue, his wife accuses him of having an affair and stabs him in a frenzied attack with a kitchen knife. As his wife is sectioned in a psychiatric ward, Daniel returns home from intensive care to find his precious world is inexorably falling apart:
Who is prowling around his house?
Why is someone sending threatening postcards?
And who is his son talking to in the dead of night?
As Daniel attempts to put his life back together, a merciless force just out of reach is unravelling it, bit by bit, until Daniel is plunged into his worst nightmare.
Enemy at the Window is an utterly gripping psychological suspense thriller, full of secrets, lies and betrayal, leading to a heart-stopping conclusion. It will appeal to fans of authors such as C.L. Taylor, Mark Edwards and Sabine Durrant.
I am a big fan of AJ’s work and was really excited when I heard she was writing this book. She is insanely talented, and is a master in the psychological thriller genre. I am always gobsmacked at how each new book that she writes, can out do the previous one! This is such a gift.
After reading only the first paragraph of the blurb, I didn’t even finish reading the rest of it before I was rushing to open my kindle and getting stuck into it. I mean how could you not be hooked by the sentence “Until, out of the blue, his wife accuses him of having an affair and stabs him in a frenzied attack with a kitchen knife.” This is the stuff that crime fiction addicts like myself absolutely love!
I’m not going to go into detail of what the story is about, as the blurb does it’s job here just giving the the reader enough of a tease and I don’t want to give anything away. Right from the first page AJ had me stuck like super glue that did not let me go until the last page. I was so engrossed in it that nothing was able to pull me away from it.
AJ skilfully makes the reader feel a part of this extremely well plotted story with characters that are perfectly written and developed. Brought to life on the page, each one played out their role in the story brilliantly.
I do have one criticism though with this book, and that is that it ended way too soon!
As I was reading it, in the back of my mind I was thinking what a great movie this would make. It has blockbuster written all over it!
This is a cracking read that is billed as a “nail-biting psychological thriller” which is so true. Unconsciously I was biting my nails throughout this story, much to my nail technicians disgust. After explaining why, she forgave me which is lucky as she is also my sister, who now is also going to read this book. My work here is done!
I think you get that I loved this book, so you need to head on over to Amazon now and get yourself a copy stat!
Thank-you to Heather Fitt from Bloodhound Books for a spot on this blog tour and also a copy of the e-book in exchange for an honest review.
All opinions are my own and are not biased in anyway.
