Today I am thrilled and so excited to be one of the bloggers kicking off the blog tour for The Scandal. Happy publication day Nicola.

About the Book

My life is like one of those cheap snow globes my twins collected when they were younger. Shiny and pretty on the outside, blurred beyond recognition when shaken.

Ever since her twin girls left home, Marisa has felt there’s something missing from her life. Her sprawling mansion is no longer filled with laughter and chaos, and she’s desperate to feel needed… and to be distracted from the secret she’s been hiding from her husband for all these years.

Coffee with her best friends might be the only thing holding Marisa together. But Claire and Elly have their own secrets. Like why Claire hasn’t been to work in weeks, or why Elly won’t tell anyone who’s buying her flowers.

When Jodi, a pregnant young girl, turns up at Marisa’s doorstep, Marisa is quick to come to her aid. She sees herself in Jodi and she knows how devoting yourself to looking after others can take up all your time in the most marvellous way.

But Jodi’s arrival quickly pushes everyone’s lies to the surface. The father of her unborn child is someone the women know very well, and Marisa starts to wonder if her obsession with helping Jodi might come at a devastating price…

The Scandal has a twist that will take your breath away. An emotionally charged novel about secrets, affairs and perfect small towns that will be devoured by fans of Kerry Fisher, Big Little Lies and The Other Woman.

Where do I begin with this book. Everything about it is bloody fantastic! I spent a sleepless night reading this as I could not get enough! A story full of secrets, betrayal, mystery, and murder with a jaw dropping finale that has stayed with me long after I finished the book.

From the title of the book, to the striking cover, the setting of the story in the Hamptons and the story itself, I was completely immersed in everything about it.

Nicola does a great job of drawing the reader in right from the start and the characters of Marisa, Claire and Elly are so engaging and believable, that I felt like I was part of the gang. The story is told from each of the three women’s perspectives and we are given great insight into who each of them are, warts and all!

Living in the Hamptons comes with the perception that everyone’s life is perfect, but these women show that behind closed doors, it is anything but. They each have their own set of secrets to deal with, ranging from infidelity to infertility and revenge for a tragic event that happened in one of the women’s past and when Jodi enters the picture, pregnant by someone very well known to them, secrets are unearthed and all hell breaks loose!

I really enjoyed Nicola’s writing style and how easily the book flowed. She has created a highly compelling story that pulls you into it’s world and like myself, you may not get any sleep when you start this, so clear your schedule and stock up on the snacks!

As a USA TODAY bestselling author, Nicola has written in the genres of women’s fiction/rural romance as well as contemporary romance, but this is her first domestic suspense novel. I read a lot of books in this genre and as a debut, Nicola nails it. She shows a confidence like she has been writing in this genre for years.

The year is not over yet and there are still a lot more books to read, but I have to say this is one of my favourites books for 2019 and it has earned a spot in my top 5 for the year!

Having started my blog in February this year, I have been introduced to so many new authors that I may never have been exposed to. I am so glad that Nicola is one of them, and she has definitely made it to my favourite author’s list. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next in this genre!

Now, this may shock you, but I highly recommend this book! 😜
