She wanted a second chance at happiness. She got a first-class ticket to hell.

Lydia Palmer seems to have it all – a thriving business, a beautiful house, a picture-perfect husband and two wonderful kids. But things are different behind closed doors – Lydia is desperately unhappy and wants a divorce.  Then, shockingly, her husband Adam dies.

When her grief eases, Lydia starts online dating and almost immediately meets Patrick. Handsome, successful, loving, he’ll make the perfect second husband.

But is Patrick too good to be true? Can you really find prince charming online?

These are questions Lydia is forced to ask when her world begins to collapse. First, the police say Adam may have been murdered. Then her daughter turns against her, her business disintegrates…

Lydia is convinced that someone is trying to destroy her happiness. She’s wrong. They want so much more than that…

Roses are Red is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you up until the early hours. Perfect for fans of K. L. Slater, Teresa Driscoll, and Andrew Hart.

After first being introduced to Miranda’s work last year by reading You Are Mine, I was really looking forward to seeing what Miranda was going to come up with next. With Roses Are Red, I was not disappointed. This is one thrilling read that will keep you in its clutches until the final page.

Miranda has created a plot that is every woman’s worst nightmare. Told from the perspective of Lydia Palmer, we follow her journey as she tries to find happiness again after the murder of her philandering husband Adam. Joining an online dating site, her first date is a disaster and she is ready to throw it in when she meets Patrick who is everything that Adam was not. But after time, things start to go wrong for Lydia. Her business takes a tumble and she is at odds with her business partner, who becomes the prime suspect in Adam’s murder and her relationship with her daughter starts to crumble. Things with Patrick appear to be great but when these issues arise, Lydia starts to question whether Patrick is too good to be true.

I really liked Lydia and my heart went out to her, but she did frustrate me to no end. All she wanted was to be loved but she is extremely naive. A savvy business woman, but when it comes to matters of the heart, she does not make the best decisions. I disliked Adam and wasn’t too upset over his demise, although it was done in the most torturous of ways. Ajay, Lydia’s business partner did have me second guessing him but his actions did come from a place of survival. Cassie was a great character and support to Lydia and I admired their friendship.

Although not a surprising outcome, this in no way hindered my enjoyment of the book and there was still a couple of surprises. Miranda definitely knows her way around the psychological thriller genre and does a great job keeping the reader enthralled and on the edge of their seat throughout. I also really enjoy the ease of her writing which does make for a pleasant reading experience.

Roses Are Red is a great book to escape into. It is fast paced read that will have you hooked as you get swept up in the drama of it all. It was a pleasure to read and review Roses Are Red which I recommend.

Thank-you to Inkubator Books and Miranda Rijks for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Roses Are Red which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. As I am from Australia, unfortunately, I am unable to add to Amazon UK.
