Would you defend your husband if he was accused of killing his mistress?
Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney in Washington D.C. At 33 years old, she is a named partner at her firm and life is going exactly how she planned.
The same cannot be said for her husband, Adam. He is a struggling writer who has had little success in his career. He begins to tire of his and Sarah’s relationship as she is constantly working.
Out in the secluded woods, at Adam and Sarah’s second home, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers.
Then, one morning everything changes. Adam is arrested for Kelly’s murder. She had been found stabbed to death in Adam and Sarah’s second home.
Sarah soon finds herself playing the defender for her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress.
But is Adam guilty or is he innocent?
Holy moly, what a thrilling read The Perfect Marriage is. Perfectly executed and written, Jeneva has crafted a unique plot that is told from the points of view from married couple Sarah and Adam. It is a gripping story of deceit, lies and revenge, with strong characters, some great twists and a jaw dropping ending that you will not see coming!
Talk about getting caught with your pants down in the worst possible of ways! You stray, you pay is definitely the catchphrase here and Jeneva really does makes Adam pay for his infidelity! Accused of his mistresses murder, when he wakes up to find her dead in the bed next to him, she really does put him through the wringer, but I was unable to muster up any kind of sympathy for him. Sarah is defiantly a bigger person than I am, as I would have kicked him to the curb, not take on his case and try to defend him! But he is adamant that he is innocent and will stop at nothing to prove this.
The phrase of just one more chapter is so fitting for this book and was the case of my reading experience of it. I just could not put this down and it really took me over and consumed all of my attention. In the cases where I did have to stop, it was always in the back of my mind and I could not stop thinking about it until I could pick it back up again. This is a testament to Jeneva’s story telling and writing which is very compelling and engaging.
Reading in the acknowledgements, where I quote Jeneva “I faced so much rejection, rewrote it twice and years later, it found a publisher. I hope my efforts brought you an entertaining and twisty story that did not disappoint.” No it definitely did not disappoint Jeneva and I am so glad you pushed through and kept preserving with this. It is such a great read and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next. It was a pleasure to be able to read and review The Perfect Marriage which I highly recommend.
Thank you to the publicity team at Bloodhound Books and Jeneva Rose for allowing me to read an advanced readers copy of The Perfect Marriage which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Let’s Get to Know Jeneva
Hi, I’m Jeneva Rose, and I write mysteries and psychological thrillers. My debut novel THE PERFECT MARRIAGE is out July 13th, 2020. I also write under the pen name J.R. Adler. DEAD WOMAN CROSSING, the first in the Kimberley King series is forthcoming from Bookouture publishing September 23rd, 2020.
I’m originally from Wisconsin and spent the last two years in Ithaca, New York, but I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my husband and my English bulldog. His name is Sir Winston, the bulldog not the husband, but he also responds to Sweet Prince, again, the bulldog, not the husband. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me cuddled up with a good book, playing a board game, in the kitchen cooking, traveling every chance I get, or binge watching The Office (for the umpteenth time).
