She wanted to save a life. Now she must fight to save herself.
When DC Lucy Murphy meets Debra, wife of feared drug dealer Gerard Jennings, she sees a young woman in urgent need of help. Brutalised by her husband, Debra is too terrified to tell the police what she knows. But Lucy is determined to bring Gerard down – for Debra’s sake, and the safety of the Griffin Estate.
Meanwhile, after the death of one of his drug runners, Gerard is under pressure from his bosses to prove he’s still up to the job. Facing threats of violence as well as police interest, Gerard is getting desperate – and desperate men are the most dangerous of all.
As Lucy prepares to go undercover in Gerard’s gang to get the evidence she needs to arrest him, her beloved grandmother Winnie starts acting strangely. She mentions a man visiting her at night in her care home, but that makes no sense – does it?
Any distraction could prove deadly for Lucy and the people she’s trying to protect. But she has backed a vicious man into a corner, and he’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants.
A gritty, shocking, action-packed thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. Fans of Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers and Jessie Keane will love this.
After only reading my first ever book by Casey Kelleher this year (I know right. I still can’t get over it!), with the amazing No Escape, I couldn’t wait to see what she was going to come up with next. I am so glad that I didn’t have too long a wait when Bookouture made the announcement that No Fear was on its way. Now this is the second instalment in the DC Lucy Murphy series and can be read as a stand-alone, but I do recommend you starting book 1. You won’t be disappointed!
So how did I find my second read from Casey Kelleher? Was the excitement still there from how I felt after reading No Escape? You bet it was and I have to say, even more so with this book. What a killer read this is! I need more, like this very second! I had to have a good lay down after reading this! It is an edge of your seat crime thriller that will blow your mind!
The story is gritty, intense and Casey Kelleher doesn’t waste any time in kicking things off where she keeps up the fast pace and the momentum right up until the final page. There were many occasions where I had to stop to catch my breath before I could continue, as at times it can be hard to read, as nothing is sugarcoated. This makes it all the more realistic and believable.
The characters are first class and have been very well created. Lucy is a force to be reckoned with and I just love her. Debra and her situation just broke my heart and Winnie is just beautiful. Now on to Gerard. He is such a despicable character and there were so many times I wanted to reach into my kindle and slap his face! In saying that though, he has been perfectly written and created as the villain.
Sorry for all the gushing in this review, but I need to finish with just a bit more…Casey Kelleher just nails everything in this book. If I could give it more than five stars I would. From the plot that has been expertly executed, strong characters and writing that is so vivid, the story plays out right in front you, all I can say is you need to read this series!
Thank you to Casey Kelleher, Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of No Fear, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This review will be added to NetGalley, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play, Barnes and Noble & Waterstones if available. As I am from Australia, unfortunately, I am unable to add to Amazon UK.
