I’ll kill yours, if you kill mine.

Maddie’s life has come crashing down around her. Her husband has left her and moved on with a new woman and baby. No longer can she run from the past that’s been haunting her. The past has destroyed her future.

In a new flat, trying to start a new life, Maddie meets Jade and her young son, Ben. All too swiftly Maddie finds the dark thoughts whirring through her brain. But Jade’s different, she loves Ben, doesn’t she?

As the two women begin to open up about their exes over a few glasses of wine, Jade conjures a plan, a pact. She’ll kill Maddie’s if Maddie kills hers. Laughing it off, Maddie returns to her normal life. But what if it wasn’t a joke at all…

Woah, this is one twisty domestic thriller that had me at it’s tagline “I’ll kill yours if you kill mine”. What a way to capture a reader’s attention! It certainly captured mine and there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity of reading this book!

Dawn Goodwin has put together an intriguing story that plays out like a lifetime movie, which I loved. You can not help but be wrapped up in its drama as it all unfolds in front of you. I was instantly caught up in its wicked web of deceit from start to finish and devoured every second of it.

What I enjoyed the most about The Pact, is how Dawn Goodwin structured the story. She is a straight down the line writer and to the point, so there is no taking the story off track and it holds its momentum throughout. It also does not have any unnecessary filler chapters just to fulfil the word count.

The Pact is a quick, intense and suspenseful read. Although I can’t say I particularly liked any of the characters, they have been very well written. It was the strength of the story and its execution that kept me wanting to flick the pages on my Kindle. There are some red herrings thrown in along the way and with some twists and turns, makes The Pact a super fun read.

Thank you to Dawn Goodwin, Aria Fiction and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Pact, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play, Barnes & Noble & Waterstones if available. As I am from Australia, I am unable to add to Amazon UK.
