Attorney Olivia Sinclair is shocked when she receives an anonymous video showing her husband Richard sleeping with someone else. After years of handling other people’s divorces, she thought she could recognise a marriage in trouble.
She angrily throws Richard out of the home they share. But days later she’s arrested—for the murder of his mistress.
Olivia knows she’s innocent but, with all the evidence pointing at her and an obvious motive, she must find the real killer to clear her name.
She may be used to dealing with messy divorces, but this one will be her most difficult case yet. Olivia’s husband has already betrayed her—but would he set her up for murder?
There is nothing better then when you finish a book that you absolutely loved, to read in the acknowledgments, that it is the start of a new series. This is the case with The Betrayal.
For Divorce Attorney Olivia Sinclair life is good. She is about to retire from her job and has been happily married to Richard for 32 years. But on the day of her 62nd birthday, her whole world comes crashing down, when she is sent an email containing a video of her husband sleeping with another woman. But what’s worse, his mistress turns up dead and all evidence points to Olivia of committing the crime…
I really loved Olivia’s character and my heart went out to her. Living a life where she thinks everything is perfect, only to have the rug pulled out from underneath her, is just heartbreaking. The secrets and lies she uncovers about Richard made my skin crawl. A real piece of work who’s only defence when confronted is “I have needs”. Nothing makes my blood boil more! Let me just say if was me in this situation it may not be the mistress’ murder you would be solving…
Upon learning that this is going to be a series, I am curious to see what direction it will take given the events that occurred in this one. There is one thing I would love to see happen, which will be clear to you when you read the book. It is definitely something to look forward to and I hope we are not kept waiting to long. I’m hooked already and will be waiting very impatiently.
This is the first book I have read from Terry Lynn Thomas and I think it’s clear that it will definitely not be my last. I love her style which I connected with immediately and how she was able to hold me captive from the very first word until the last! I throughly enjoyed how the mystery played out and was on the edge of my seat to see how it was all going to unfold.
The Betrayal is a fast paced gripping read that I can not recommend highly enough. It is fraught with so much tension, suspense and with twists and turns to keep you guessing, the pages just turned themselves. I just could not get enough and it was a one sitting read for me. I hope this review makes you want to read this fantastic book. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. It was my absolute pleasure to be able to read and review The Betrayal.
Thank you to Terry Lynn Thomas, HQ Digital and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Betrayal, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Let’s Get to Know Terry Lynn Thomas
Terry Lynn Thomas grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, which explains her love of foggy beaches, windy dunes, and Gothic mysteries. When her husband promised to buy Terry a horse and the time to write if she moved to Mississippi with him, she jumped at the chance. Although she had written several novels and screenplays prior to 2006, after she relocated to the South she set out to write in earnest and has never looked back.
Now Terry Lynn writes the Sarah Bennett Mysteries, set on the California coast during the 1940s, which feature a misunderstood medium in love with a spy. Neptune’ Daughter is a recipient of the IndieBRAG Medallion.
She also writes the Cat Carlisle Mysteries, set in Britain during World War II. When she’s not writing, you can find Terry Lynn riding her horse, walking in the woods with her dogs, or visiting old cemeteries in search of story ideas.
